Although the potential applications of digital twins in personalised medicine have already been discussed at length, there is still no consensus on (1) what exactly a digital twin in human medicine is, (2) what critical considerations and problems the respective ideas or promises evoke, and finally, (3) which concepts of the digital twin will be technically feasible in the future and, in this respect, negotiable in normative terms. In an interesting parallel to the debates about the beginning, course and end of life of real people, differentiated normative problems seem to arise for different temporal stages of the existence of digital twins.
The three fundamental questions mentioned above form the starting point for lectures and discussions on the medical use of digital twins, which will be addressed from various disciplinary perspectives at the workshop organised by the ZEVEDI project group Human Medical Data Bodies: Generating Bio-Digital Twins.
