The virtual workshop “AI & Finance” hosted by the ZEVEDI project group AI and Finance – Innovation, Resilience and Responsibility will deal with Artificial Intelligence as one of the key drivers of modern finance, with a special focus on the recent EU Proposal for an AI Act and on credit scoring.

Actors of Algorithmically Prepared Decisions
Workshop, 25 October 2021, 8:00-11:30


The workshop “Actors of Algorithmically Prepared Decisions” hosted by the ZEVEDI project group Diffusion of Responsibility through Algorithms will deal with the question of which actors shape the development and use of algorithms and which possibilities of regulation exist in this respect. The influence of different actors will be discussed with selected experts and the distribution of responsibility and liability for the use of algorithms will be debated.

The workshop will take place online via Zoom.

Data Sovereignty: Problems and Opportunities.

The conference “Data Sovereignty: Problems and Opportunities” by the ZEVEDI project group Datasovereignty will explore (mis)understandings of the term and discuss its viability with a broad audience and selected experts. Is the concept of data sovereignty a theoretically and practically appropriate response to the challenges of digitality? And how can it be linked to other governance strategies of the digital society?

FinTech & Blockchain: double book launch
Online book presentation on 9 July 2021, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.


Digitality is leading to major changes in the financial markets, where services and payments are increasingly taking digital forms. On Friday, 9 July 2021, in the presence of the Hessian Digital Minister Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus, two reference books will be presented that deal in depth with new financial technologies and their legal framework: the 2nd edition of “FinTech Handbuch”, edited by Marburg professors and ZEVEDI participants Florian Möslein and Sebastian Omlor, and the first edition of “Handbuch Kryptowährungen und Token”, edited by Professor Sebastian Omlor and RA Dr. Mathias Link (PWC).


The event will take place in a hybrid format. Free participation via zoom is open to all interested parties.

Algorithms – Between Trust and Control
digital lecture series, summer term 2021


During this summer term the research centre Normative Orders of Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main offers a digital lecture series. The talks highlight problems of control and trust in the context of algorithm-based decisions and evaluations. The two convenors of the series are members of ZEVEDI:
Prof. Indra Spiecker gen. Döhmann, who is speaker of the ZEVEDI project group Diffusion of Responsibility through Algorithms and Prof. Christoph Burchard, who is a member of the same group.
